Tryin' Lion

Tryin' Lion sent me an email yesterday that I shared with the students during a recording. If "he" gets at a word he doesn't know he tries to read it again.  If he still doesn't get it he rereads the sentence and puts in a word that he thinks would fit there.

"Sometimes words can be so hard, they make you feel like crying'.  Don't give up, no never give up, don't stop tryin'!"

Listening To Kids Read From A Distance Yesterday Was WONDERFUL!

The Kind Kindler Combo!

Dylan Loves Learning!

Jace started practicing some fluency skills!  Pausing/stopping for a brief moment when you see a period when you're reading is something you will learn to do.  Way to Go Jace!

One of my favorite books.....Thank You Eleanor!

Welcome Back to Virtual Learning Part 2

Hi Friends,

I just sent you a recording of some of the things I did over April vacation.  I did a bunch of baking, reading, and cleaning.  I went to my first virtual birthday party.  We sang to the birthday boy over a Zoom Meeting.

I hope to read about what you did over April vacation. If you send me a picture of your writing paper from todays recording request I will be super excited.

Eleanor sent some photos from her April vacation that we wanted to share.  Did any of the rest of you help out at home? Did any of you spend time with your siblings? Did you watch any good movies or read any good books?  Did you play any games that you would recommend we play the next time we have some free time at home?

Challenging but Rewarding: Teaching in the classroom or................

Teaching From Home.  Never thought I'd be trying to connect with my class this way.
We are all giving it our best efforts. Our "Stuffie Reading Strategy Friends" made it home to my house and are having a peek at the students homes too.

Non-Fiction Writing was introduced from a distance!

Jake shared a true fact for his non-fiction piece

Jace sent a video sharing what he knows and likes about airports.

When we read a non-fiction book about airports we learned about the cockpit where the pilot sits, the person who helps passengers on a plane is called a flight attendant, the runway is a strip of land that planes use for taking off and landing, you need tickets to board a plane to show that you paid your fee to travel on an airplane and more.  Our next non-fiction book that we will read before writing another non-fiction piece has true information about chefs in it.  What do you already know about chefs?
